Poker variants played in casinos
The game of poker consists of many different variants. The most popular variants of poker are Texas Holdem, Omaha, Seven-Card Stud and Draw poker and are found and played in all casinos around the world. Omaha, Seven-Card Stud and Draw poker are also played in high/low versions. Among the more unique but still very popular poker variants are Crazy Pineapple, Razz and Lowball.
The poker variant so Texas Holdem is the most popular form of poker in the world. While it has always been widely acknowledged, its popularity increased manifold after a series of tournaments were aired on television in the form of World Poker Tour in the year 2002. Also, the explosion of the Internet leading to online poker was responsible for its widespread popularity.
Omaha earned its name in the 1980s and 90s, much before Texas Holdem. Today, Omaha is still played in Europe in the pot limit structure. Seven Card Stud though lost some of its charm in the 1990s, is played in some European countries like Denmark and Germany and the east coast of America.
